The MMLA will hold its annual August Half-Day Program on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at the Publick House in Sturbridge. This year's topic will be clean energy regulations in the Commonwealth, with a focus on the climate bill that Governor Healey signed into law in November 2024. The bill makes sweeping changes to state law governing the siting and approval of clean energy facilities, such as solar, wind, battery storage, and transmission lines, and divides responsibility for large and small Clean Energy Facilities between the state (EFSB) and local governments.
This program will have the latest updates on state regulations and guidance, with speakers including state officials and municipal attorneys. We will address questions such as what is the municipal role in either large or small clean energy projects, and what are the best strategies for both; provide practical pointers; and delve into everything municipal attorneys and officials need to know for smooth sailing.
