Our September monthly lunch and learn webinar is coming up on Wednesday, September 9th at noon. Join us for an informative discussion on accessibility in municipal government, covering physical, digital, and programmatic access for residents with disabilities. We will hear from the following panelists: 

• Ann E. Lynch, Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer Protection and Civil Rights Divisions at the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office
• Jeffrey Dougan, Assistant Director for Community Services at the Massachusetts Office on Disability
• Adam Gojanovich, Accessibility Training Coordinator for the Accessibility Center for Consulting, Education and Support Services (ACCESS)

The webinar will provide an overview of the Massachusetts Architectural Access Board (AAB) and explain municipalities' responsibilities under 521 CMR, including common accessibility violations and the importance of maintaining accessible routes during snow and ice conditions. The session will also explore evolving federal requirements for digital accessibility, highlighting what public entities need to know, key content areas that require attention, and best practices for compliance. In addition, attendees will learn practical strategies for responding to requests for reasonable accommodations, with a focus on ensuring inclusive participation in open meetings, town meetings, and other public programs and services.

This session is designed for municipal counsel, officials, and staff seeking to better understand their accessibility obligations and promote equitable access for all community members.
