    The Town of Braintree seeks a highly-motivated attorney to serve as a part-time Assistant Town Solicitor.  Under the direction of the Town Solicitor, the Assistant Town Solicitor will represent the Town in legal proceedings and quasi-judicial or administrative proceedings before courts and regulatory agencies and to serve as legal counsel to the Mayor, department heads and other Town officials. Duties include conducting legal research, preparing legal opinions, preparing responses to public records requests and drafting and reviewing municipal contracts. Specific areas of responsibility include labor and employment, state ethics, open meeting law, public records law, public procurement, municipal finance, and other matters associated with municipal law.

    Minimum Requirements:

    J.D. with at least 3 years relevant legal experience. Experience in labor and employment law, plus public records and open meeting law at the municipal level preferred. Admitted to practice in Massachusetts and admitted or eligible to practice in federal court. Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, possess excellent judgment and have strong research and writing skills. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks in a collegial fast paced environment are also required. Attendance at night meetings, including the Town Council may be required.  All work is to be performed at Braintree Town Hall, parents’ schedule welcome.

    The City of Brockton is seeking an Assistant City Solicitor to join its Law Department.  The successful candidate must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar and have three to five years of experience as a practicing attorney.  Experience in municipal law, labor and employment law, land use, or civil litigation preferred. 

    The starting salary is $106,917.  We also offer an excellent benefit package, a defined benefit pension, and a supportive and inclusive work environment. 

    This position is not subject to the City’s residency requirement.

    The Massachusetts Association of Public Purchasing Officials (MAPPO) is seeking an Executive Director for this newly created leadership position. The Executive Director will have broad responsibility for all association administration, including financial management, support administration, administrative systems and procedures, purchasing and general office management. The Executive Director shall also perform business planning and analysis functions commensurate with the position.
