    The Massachusetts Association of Health Boards ( is seeking a full-time attorney with knowledge of Massachusetts municipal and public health law to provide technical assistance and legal education to Boards of Health, health departments and public health department collaboratives. MAHB’s mission is to assist and support boards of health in meeting their statutory, regulatory and service responsibilities through programs of education, technical assistance, and resource development.

    Services include, but are not limited to advising on the development, interpretation and implementation of policies and agreements relative to shared municipal public health services, advising on legal strategies relative to state and local public health enforcement issues, and supporting creating strategies for public health professional workforce development.

    Applicants should have excellent research, writing, communication, and public speaking skills. Attendance and presentations to local officials at local municipal meetings is required.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, admission to the Massachusetts Bar, and at least three years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional experience in the practice of law. Applicants must have the ability to travel to local municipal meetings.

    Salary Range:

    $80,000 to $95,000 depending on experience.
